Metal prices steady on moderate demand

Mumbai, Dec 26 (UNI) Metal prices today remained steady due to moderate demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.

In the non-ferrous segment, tin slab shed Rs three per kg.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 33,500, copper utensils - Rs 30,500, brass utensils - Rs 22,700, brass cuttings - Rs 25,500 and aluminium utensils - Rs 10,900.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 36,000, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,200, zinc slab - Rs 23,000, lead ingots - Rs 7,800, tin slab - Rs 592 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 1,730 (per kg).

Malaysia plants trees along coastal areas to protect against tsunami

Singapore, Dec 26 (UNI) Malaysians today planted mangrove trees simultaneously in Kedah, Penang and Perak to mark the second anniversary of the tsunami tragedy which hit the states on the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia two years ago.
