Lucknow-Rae Bareli rail route disrupted

Lucknow, Dec 26 (UNI) Train services on the Lucknow-Rae Bareli route of the Northern railway were disrupted since late last night, following the derailment of 26 bogies of a goods train between Gangaganj and Harchandpur railway stations.

Railway sources said no one was injured in the incident, which occurred around 0100 hrs. The goods train was going to Gauriganj from Lucknow.

Sources said train services between Allahabad and Lucknow have been severely affected due to the accident and all trains, in Inter City, Triveni Express, Nauchandi Express and Ganga Gomti Express, been diverted through Sultanpur.

Repair work is underway in a war footing and the route is expected to be cleared by tomorrow.

The cause behind the incident is not known.
