Indian Naval Hospital Ship Patanjali commissioned

Karwar, Karnataka, Dec 26 (UNI) An Indian Naval Hospital Ship (INHS), a 141-bed high-tech hospital of the Indian Navy, was commissioned into the Navy by Surgeon Vice-Admiral V K Singh, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services and Senior Colonel Commandant, here today.

The hospital, named after the ancient sage Patanjali, pioneer of Yoga shastra and Ayurveda, would initally be equipped with a 141-bed in-patient ward, state-of-the-art ICU, operation theatres, laboratory, radiological diagnostic equipment and high-tech dental equipment, a defence release here said.

It was envisaged to upgrade it into a full-fledged 400-bed Command Hospital in the near future. Accordingly, sufficient space and facilitis have been provided in the hospital complex, spread over a six hectare area with a floor area of 17,000 sqm, the release said.

Specialists in all fields of medicine would be posted in the hospital along with fully trained paramedics. The special features of the hospital included four operation theatres with steel cladding, epoxy flooring and modern monitors, 100 and 300 mA X-ray facility, colour doppler, neonatal incubators, state-of-the-art physiotherapy equipment and dental chairs with RVG.

Reputed firms like Mecon, NCCL, Larsen and Toubro (medical division), BHEL, ABB, Godrej and Narula Udyog have been actively involved in setting up the hospital, the release added.

Dadua not to surrender before police, says brother

Lucknow, Dec 26 (UNI) Dreaded dacoit Shiv Kumar alias Dadua has no plans to surrender to the Uttar Pradesh Police, his brother and ruling Samajwadi Party leader Bal Kumar Patel said even as police has launched a massive operation in Bundelkhand region to apprehend the outlaw.
