Govt denies report on Indo-Pak 'secret' parleys

New Delhi, Dec 26: The government today strongly denied a media report describing as ''factually incorrect'' that Indian and Pakistani officials had met in Lahore to discuss President Pervez Musharraf's four-point proposals on Jammu and Kashmir and the Siachen issue.

''The report is factually incorrect,'' External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said in response to a question.

Reports in a section of the media today said India's envoy S K Lambah had held 'back-channel' talks with his Pakistani counterpart Tariq Aziz on Pakistan President's new ''ideas'' on Kashmir and push for a forward momentum on the Siachen issue.

The report said a day before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his Punjab visit, reiterated his desire for a peace, security and friendship treaty with Islamabad, Mr Lambah went to Lahore and held 'back-channel' talks with Mr Aziz.
