Govt committed to implement GO 610 : Speaker

Hyderabad, Dec 26: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy today said the state government was committed to implement GO 610, in true spirit.

Inaugurating the preliminary meeting of the House Committee, constituted with all party members to monitor the implementation of GO 610, he said the Committee would function till the GO is implemented in the state.

The GO will be implemented as per the recommendations of Girglani Commission report. The Committee will study all aspects and implement the GO to provide employment to the local Telanganites.

The House Committee Chairman N Uttamkumar Reddy said the Committee would meet regularly and monitor the implemantation of the GO in all departments by conducting the meeting with the officials concerned. The House Committee would also study the Action Taken Report (ATR) submitted by the previous House Committee.

Stating that the opposition Telugu Desam party (TDP) was also supporting the government in the implementation of the GO, the party senior leader T Devender Goud said the present and the previous governments had delayed in the implementation of the Girglani Commission recommendations, adding the state Government should take immediate remedial measures in this regard.

Observing that the GO was not being implemented since 21 years, CPI floor leader C H Venkat Reddy alleged that seccessive governments had failed to render justice to Telangana people.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA and former minister Harish Rao said the govenrment should take steps to implement the GO in six months as per its promise in the recently concluded winter session of the Assembly.

Warne passes 700 wickets as England collapse

MELBOURNE, Dec 26 (Reuters) Shane Warne captured five wickets to take his career total past 700 as Australia seized control of the fourth Ashes test against England today. Warne took 5-39 to complete his 37th five-wicket haul and become the first man to claim 700 test victims as England collapsed to 159 all out on the first day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
