GIHED to promote Ahmedabad at 'Brand Ahmedabad, Target 2020'

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) In an effort to showcase opportunities in the infrastructure, real estate, IT, SEZs, and education sectors, the Gujarat Institute of Housing&Estate Developers (GIHED) is organising a three-day property show -- Brand Ahmedabad, Target 2020 -- in Ahmedabad from January 5 next year.

Leading corporate and national players including Reliance, DLF, Unitech and Raheja Group will participate in the event. A total of 80 builders will showcase an average of 200 projects besides preparing a roadmap for the next ten years.

''Gujarat is eyeing an investment of Rs 1,50,000 crore in 12 sectors including real estate in next five years. The annual turnover of the sector is estimated to be at Rs 15,000 crore by the end of next fiscal,'' GIHED President Jaxay Shah said.

Investments worth Rs 1 lakh crore could be pumped into the state with as many as 33 SEZs being set up here. IT companies have signed MoUs of Rs 11,000 crore, which will create employment for over 3,00,00 individuals.

DLF alone will invest around Rs 1,000 crore to set up three IT Parks/SeZs at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Vadodara. The company is also in race for the 60-acre conventional centre at Gandhinagar and bus terminals in seven cities.

In addition, the company is also in fray for an integrated township near Sabarmati and work will be through in this project once the Urban policy of the state government comes into effect, DLF Commercial Developers Advisor Navin Shukla told reporters here.

''An easy availability of raw material resources and skilled and unskilled labour will also help in promoting the brand Ahmedabad,'' Mr Shah said adding that 50 townships have already been completed in the state and 100 more will be done.

The property show will be targeting the NRI community who want to get settle down in their homeland, Mr Shah said.
