DS signs concession agreement expressway project with NHAI

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) An infrastructure development and engineering company DS Constructions Ltd (DSCL) today announced that it has signed the Concession Agreement with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for four laning of the Gwalior-Jhansi Expressway section on NH - 75 on build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.

The 80.127 km long expressway will be constructed at a cost of over Rs 650 crores within a period of 30 months. The Concession Period for the project is 20 years.

The work on the project entails design, construction, development, finance, operation and maintenance of the project, including rehabilitation and upgrade from the existing two lanes to four lanes of Gwalior-Jhansi section from 16-96 km on NH-75 in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh under North-South Corridor (NHDP - Phase II).

''This is our second significant project in UP after the Lucknow-Sitapur expressway project which will further consolidate our position as one of the leading infrastructure developers in India. With this project our order book stands in excess of Rs 4,000 crore in the roads, highways and expressway sector with over 525 km in length under construction,'' said DSCL Director N D Mehra.

He said the Gwalior-Jhansi section provides a direct link between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and will cut down travel time between Gwalior and Jhansi substantially.

The scope of work includes construction of three major bridges -- a two-lane bridge and two four-lane bridges, 22 minor bridges, four-lane flyover, 14 bus bays, five vehicular underpasses, 99 culverts and a bypass at Takenpur and Dabar -- with total length of 19.80 km and service roads on each side of the highway.

DSCL is a pioneer in public-private partnerships (PPP) infrastructure development and engineering construction in India, with over Rs 9,000 million of projects under execution in the highways, expressways, railways and hydro power.

The company has recently received in- principal approval for two multi-product SEZs in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

IMFA receives "Nirtya Shree" award.

Bhubaneswar, Dec 26(UNI)Indian Metals&Ferro Alloys Limited(IMFA), India's largest producer of ferro alloys, was honoured with the prestigious 'Niryat Shree' award by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations(FIEO) at a glittering function in New Delhi today. The award recognizes outstanding export performance by erstwhile Indian Charge Chrome Limited(ICCL) which has since merged with IMFA during the year 2004-05. Panchayat election in J'khand after SC's decision: Koda

Cable theft cases affecting BSNL services : Shakeel

Darbhanga, Dec 26 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Information Technology Shakeel Ahmad today alleged that the state government had failed to check the cable theft cases resulting in deficiency in services provided by BSNL. After inaugurating a school building here, Ahmad said recent spurt in cable theft cases was an attempt of vested interests to defame BSNL. Despite requests on several occasions, the state government did not take effective steps to detect the networks.....
