CP Bank to merge with Kishna Bank soon

Tirupati, Dec 26 (UNI) To expand its business operations in the banking sector, the Centurian-Punjab Bank will be merged with Kerala-based Lord Krishna Bank soon, its CEO Vivek Wig said here today.

Talking to UNI, Mr Vivek said all necessary formalities for the merger had been completed. The merger would be announced shortly. The Bank had more than 160 branches and 30 more branches would be introduced in the current financial year.

After the merger, the Bank would be occupying the fourth place in the banking sector in the country. At present the Bank has a good financial record and every quarter the bank's profits have been increasing by 10 to 15 per cent, he said.

The Bank would also open a branch in this temple town shortly, he said and added the bank will also enter retail banking by end of the financial year.

Lagos pipeline fire kills 14- Red Cross

LAGOS, Dec 26 (Reuters) - Fourteen people were killed and 30 critically injured today when a fuel pipeline exploded in Lagos after it was broken open by thieves, the Red Cross said.
