Cong alleges innocents youthsslain in encounter

Jagdalpur, Dec 26 (UNI) The Congress has claimed that two tribal youths -- who hailed from Chhattisgarh's tribal-dominated, naxalism-affected Kanker district and were killed in the December 22 encounter at Gadchiroli in neighbouring Maharashtra -- were innocent.

The deceased were identified as Pakhajoor's Sual and Renu, both aged 20.

Former Congress MLA Manturam Pawar led irate villagers who gheraoed the Pakhajoor Police station yesterday. A bandh was called in the area today.

''The duo were conveying a television and generator to a village when they were caught by a Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra joint patrol.

The youths were taken across the state border and shot,'' Mr Pawar alleged.

32 foreign players for PHL

Chandigarh, Dec 26 (UNI) Thirty-two foreign players from different countries will be seen in action in the two-month long seven-team Premier Hockey League (PHL) to be played in Chennai (in January) and Chandigarh (February-March) next year. However, the names of the players and countries are yet to be finalised. It may be recalled that in the last PHL held in Chandigarh, eight players from Pakistan were among the foreigners who donned the colours of different.....

Pakistan plans fence, mines on Afghan border

Perm Saini named as one of Britain's Top 100 women in property

London, Dec 26 (UNI) Birmingham property entrepreneur of Indian origin, Perm Saini, has been named as one of Britain's Top 100 women in the property business. Ms Saini, founder of Edgbaston-based Claremont Group, was placed 90th in the influential listing produced by property bible ''Property Week''. She is the only Asian on the list.
