Chill in the air persists in Delhi, temp at 7.4 Deg C

New Delhi, Dec 26: Severe morning chillcontinued to put Delhiites in a freeze for the third consecutive day today even as mercury rose slightly to 7.4 degrees Celsius.

Despite the rise in minimum temperature, from 6.9 degrees C yesterday, the cold Easterly winds continued to lend a chilly air to Delhi.

The visibility levels, however, continued to remain normal.

Weatherman said about 600m visibility was recorded at 0700 hours, which is considered normal.

The rise in temperatures for the last few days notwithstanding, the weatherman forecast severe chill by the end of the week.

Though the coming 24 hours could witness a slight rise in minimum temperature, night temperatures could witness a fall from Thursday onwards with weatherman forecasting a fresh phase of snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttaranchal and rain in Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 hours.

Infact, the weatherman have also predicted a fall in night temperature in Delhi to as low as five degrees C on Friday and six degrees C on Saturday.

The weathermen have also forecast a dense fog in Delhi towards the end of the week.

Weathermen have forecast a partly cloudy sky in the city during the next 24 hours with possibility of light rains in some areas. The minimum temperature is expected to rise to nine degrees C.

Sensex crosses 13,500 mark, opens high at 13,501 pts

Mumbai, Dec 26 (UNI) The BSE Sensex today crossed 13,500 mark and opened high at 13,501 points from its last close of 13,471.74 points on fresh heavy speculative demand from FIIs and local investors, brokers said.
