New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) The National Democratic Alliance will meet at former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's residence tomorrow to finalise its stand on the Singur issue.
Confirming this, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said party President Rajnath Singh met Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee today who has been on an indefinite strike on the issue, and later apprised Mr Vajpayee about her condition following which it was decided to convene the NDA meet tomorrow.
Reaffirming the BJP's total support to Ms Banerjee, Mr Javadekar termed the Left attitude towards the Trinamool Leader as 'insensitive', and condemned them for not budging an inch from their position on the Singur issue even after the people had expressed their anger against them.
"What Ms Banerjee is raising is a real and serious issue. The Communists have been speaking the same language about the affected farmers in other states but when it comes to the question of West Bengal, they change their stand. They are not even ready to reconsider the whole issue. The BJP condemns this insensitivity and we stand by Ms Banjerjee fully in her agitation and reaffirm our solidarity for the cause," he said.
The BJP also lambasted the Left for their remarks on the Lucknow resolution adopted by the BJP National Council, charging them with duplicity on various issues. In the resolution, the party, reverting back to its Hindutva agenda, reasserted its commitment to building a Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
The BJP spokesman said the resolution was against the pseudo- secularist parties like the Left and the Samajwadi party, which should introspect before commenting on others.
"We will like to ask them what is their stand on infiltrators from across the Bangladesh border, how do they support religion-based reservation and UPA's shameful capitulation at Havana, changing its policy and giving a clean chit to Pakistan on terrorism," Mr Javadekar said.
Besides, the so- called pseudo-secularist forces should also answer to U P minister Haji Yakoob Qureishi announcement of Rs 50 crore award for killing the Danish cartoonist for sketching Prophet Mohammad and also to another Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan's statement demanding carving out of a Muslim state from Uttar Pradesh, he said.
The Left parties, he said, were known for their duplicity. They support a thing in West Bengal but oppose it outside. Their stand on SEZ is different in other states from what they follow in their own ruled states, he said, adding this was the reason "the people don't take them seriously".
