BJP creating communal tensions in country: SP

Lucknow, Dec 26 (UNI) Even as it admitted that former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is the tallest leader in the country, the ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh today ridiculed the BJP for trying to create communal disturbances by raising the Ram temple and Article 370 issues.

Senior SP leader and Lok Sabha MP Beni Prasad Verma here said, the statement of BJP president Rajnath Singh on the Ram temple and Article 370 of the Constitution was violation of what was stated by Mr Vajpayee in Parliament.

''During their three-day national conclave here, the BJP leaders aimed at creating division in the society for their vested political interest,'' Mr Verma claimed.

He reminded the BJP of Mr Vajpayee's statement in Parliament in 1998, when the latter became Prime Minister for the first time by saying the party was shedding all controversial issues including Ram temple and Article 370, so that India's secular image was maintained.

The SP leaded observed that Mr Vajpayee is the country's tallest leader and his words should be obeyed by other 'small' leaders of the BJP.
