BJP can never change its stripes: CPI

New Delhi, Dec 26: The Communist Party of India (CPI) today came down heavily on the BJP for its reassertion of Hindutva, saying it could never change its stripes and come out of its medieval and communal fascist moorings.

"While accusing others of Muslim appeasement, the BJP has in fact resorted to anti-Muslim tirade," the CPI Central Secretariat said in a statement here.

The Left party said the BJP at its National Council session at Lucknow had once again thrown a challenge to the Republican Consitution of the country by its reassertion of right wing politics and rabid communal propaganda.

The BJP's raking up the Ayodhya issue was yet another desperate move by the party which claimed to be one with a difference.

The CPI said RSS and its outfits like the VHP time and again tried to subvert country's secular democratic polity. "People of our country continue to rebuff them by rejecting their rabid communal politics and their sinister designs for establihsing a theocratic state." It called upon the countrymen to defeat the saffron party's nefarious designs and its politics of hatred and divisiveness.
