Answer simple questions and get to meet Nadal, Nalbandian

Chennai, Dec 26 (UNI) With the countdown having started for the 12th edition of the ATP International Series event, the USD 416,000 Chennai Open 2007 from January 1 to 7 the event managers IMG today announced as part of the build up, a contest which would enable five winners to spend time with stars like Rafael Nadal and David Nalbandian.

According to a press release here, to participate in the contest, one must log on to www.makemytrip.com/chennaiopen and answer a few questions. The five randomly picked winners would get an opportunity to experience the taste of tennis highlife and mingle with the players at a party on January 4 at the Five Star hotel near the stadium.

The organisers would also be giving a bumper prize where one lucky person can win a trip for two to Spain, the home country of Nadal and Carlos Moya, the Chennai Open runner up last year and a two time singles title winner.

Bengal in driver's seat against Maharashtra in Ranji tie

Kolkata, Dec 26 (UNI) Bengal established a firm control over the match, reaching 199 for five today after destroying Maharashtra for 215 in the Ranji tie at the Eden Gardens. Bengal reached 199 for five with good starts from Arindam Das (37), Abhishek Jhunjhunwala(41) and A Chakraborty (27). But the players could not capitalise on the starts. Sanclecha claimed three wickets for 76 runs. At the end of the day Deep Dasgupta remained unbeaten on.....

Muabarak proposes easier terms for presidential bids

CAIRO, Dec 26 (Reuters) Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak asked parliament today to amend the constitution to make it easier for opposition parties to field presidential candidates. In a letter to parliament, read out by speaker Fathi Sorour, Mubarak also proposed a formal ban on parties based on religion -- a step which could enshrine in the constitution restrictions on the Muslim Brotherhood, the largest opposition force. Other changes would give more power to the prime.....

Iraq appeal court to rule soon on Saddam execution

BAGHDAD, Dec 26 (Reuters) An Iraqi appeals court examining the guilty verdict and death sentence against Saddam Hussein for crimes against humanity is in ''intensive discussions'' about its ruling on the appeal, the court spokesman said today. Spokesman Raed Jouhi said a decision was not expected today, but he said: ''Since Sunday, the court has been trying to put the final touches on a decision on the appeal. The judges are in intensive discussions.'' State.....
