AI welcomes second plane for low cost subsidiary

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) Air India (AI) today received the second Boeing 737-800 aircraft which will be inducted into the fleet of its low cost subsidiary.

The first aircraft was inducted on December 6. This increases the fleet size of AI Express to nine, seven of which are on lease.

''With the induction of this aircraft into the fleet, AI Express can now start operations between Bahrain, Doha, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode from January 2007,'' said Capt P P Singh, chief operating officer of Air India Charters Limited.

AI Express started operations on April 29 last year and operates 57 weekly flights from nine Indian cities -- Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Amritsar, Mangalore and Chennai. Seven foreign stations on the network are Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Muscat, Salalah and Singapore.

Saints rushed to hospital in Allahabad

Allahabad, Dec 26 (UNI) The Allahabad police forcibly rushed to hospital the saints, including Akhil Bhartiya Khaddarshan Akhara Parishad 'mahant' Dharam Das, who were sitting on an indefinite fast in front of the office of Ardh Kumbh Mela officer.
