Tributes to freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malviya on birth anniv

New Delhi, Dec 25 (UNI) Tributes were paid to freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malviya on the occasion of his 146th birth anniversary today.

Leading Delhiites in paying tributes to the renowned nationalist was Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Ch Prem Singh.

Mr Singh joined a large number of freedom fighters, Chief Whip of the Congress Ramakant Goswami, Delhi Chief Secretary R Narayan Swami and Sikh leader jatthedar Rachpal Singh in offering floral tributes at the statue of Pt Madan Mohan Malviya at the Old Secretariat.

Speaking on the occasion, Ch Prem Singh described Pt Malviya as a great scholar and an educationist.

He said Pt Malviya dedicated his life for the cause of the nation and for liberation of the country from the rule of the British Empire.

Congress to celebrate 112th establishment day in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Dec 24 (UNI) The Congress would organise a two-day celebration from December 27 in Jharkhand to mark the 112th establishment day of the party. Media in charge of the event Alok Dubey told reporters here that preparations were in the last leg. Cultural events would be organised on December 27 and 'prabhat pheri' and flag hoisting the next day. China oil tycoon held in $127 mn graft probe: Media

Beijing, Dec 26: A Chinese oil tycoon has been detained on suspicion of embezzling 1 billion yuan (127.9 million dollar) of private and government funds, media reported today. Gong Jialong, chairman of the Tianfa Group, owner of listed Tianfa Petroleum Co, was detained on December 21, the Beijing News said. Gong is the chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce for Petroleum Industry from which he is suspected of embezzling the funds, the newspaper said......

JD(U) to move privilege against Lalu for misleading Parliament

Patna, Dec 24 (UNI) The JD(U) is contemplating moving privilege against Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in the next session of Parliament for ''misleading'' the House by making ''false'' announcements.
