Three militants surrender in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 25 (UNI) Three Pakistan-trained militants have laid down arms and ammunition before the Army in Kashmir, police said today.

Two militants of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM) outfit surrendered before 18 Dogra at Uri in Baramulla district in north Kashmir.

The third militant of the Hizbul Mujahideen laid arms before 1/9 Grenadiers at the Boucher Post in Uri, police added.

Police said the Pakistan-trained militants have been identified as Javed Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad Parray and Nazir Ahmad Chopan.

They also surrendered one AK rifle, two magazines, 20 rounds, two pistols, one pistol magazine and 13 pistol rounds before the troops.

All petroleum outlets in UP to go dry from tomorrow morning

50-hour-long operation in north Kashmir ends

Srinagar, Dec 25 (UNI) A 50-hour-long operation in north Kashmir where troops had surrounded five Lashkar-e-Toiba militants in a village seemed to be almost over, as there was no return firing today when the operation resumed. Five killed, seven injured in road mishap

Malappuram, Dec 25 (UNI) Five teenagers were killed and seven injured when the jeep in which they were travelling collided with a bus at Kottappuram in this district today. Police said the jeep coming to Ayikarappady from Mongam hit the bus coming from Kozhikode killing Naseem, Mohammed Shameer and Rahim (all aged 18), Shuhaib(15) and Shafeeq(13) on the spot.
