Sunshine greets UP on Christmas

Lucknow, Dec 24 (UNI) The marked rise in the temperature and the bright sunshine in Uttar Pradesh today added to the Christmas celebrations all over the state.

It gave respite from chilly winds to people, who had been facing adverse climatic conditions of late.

The weather was recorded above normal in Kanpur, Faizabad and Lucknow divisions, the met office told UNI here.

However, a slight dip in night temperature was recorded in Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Agra and Varanasi divisions.

Agra at 6 degrees Celsius, which was 2 degrees below normal, was the coldest place in UP. The state capital recorded 7 degrees minimum temperature.

Meanwhile, fog enveloped UP for the third consecutive week, which the weatherman has attributed to the moisture feed from the Arabian sea. Dense fog blanket during morning and night hours has reduced visibility leading to delay of several trains and flights.

Weathermen have forecast mainly a clear weather with fog blanket during the early and late hours.
