Students relive school moments in alumni meet

Chennai, Dec 25 (UNI) Twentyfive years after passing out from the portals of the historic Hindu Senior Secondary School (HSSS), students took a trip down memory lane with a sense of nostalgia.

The occasion was the alumni meet of the 1982 batch of the students, who congregated at the school auditorium last evening along with their families, and talked of the good old days.

'Rewind 82' was the theme of the reunion.

Three of the alumni, settled abroad, made it a point to be part of the meeting. They flew down specially from the US, Malaysia and Australia.

The 60-odd students heaped praise on their 'stern' teachers, who were moved by the gesture when they were honoured. Some of the school staff were also presented mementoes to mark the occasion.

School Principal G Balasubramaniam, who retired as Director, Academics, Central Board of Secondary Education, came from Delhi.

The alumni, including students who studied from 1973 to 1982, now boasts of doctors, a special judge in the CBI, a chief priest in the Parthasarathy Temple, computer engineers and a musician among others.

The 'wards' of the students presented a cultural programme.

The bringing together of alumni after 25 years marked culmination of efforts over nine months to get details of students, who had settled down in various parts of the country and abroad, an alumnus said.

The alumni also launched a website www.hsss1982.com.
