Rain likely in some Southern states

Pune, Dec 25 (UNI) Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Dry weather will prevail over Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka. They were appreciably to markedly above normal in west Rajasthan, Gujarat and in some parts of Uttaranchal, east Rajasthan and north Madhya Maharashtra.

The temperatures were above normal in Assam, Meghalaya, north Konkan, north coastal Karnataka, in some parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh and coastal Andhra Pradesh, while they were normal over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers had occurred at isolated places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu.

Dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states and Kerala.

Junior doctors call off strike in Bihar

Patna, Dec 25 (UNI) Junior doctors of Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) called off their strike tonight following assurance from government to strenghten security network for them and ensure effective steps to prevent violent attacks from relatives of patients in the event of deaths in the hospital. The government agreed to deploy a contingent of 75 homeguards on security duty of PMCH and dismissed 11 security guards who allegedly failed to prevent attacks on.....

6 Indians arrested for travelling on fake visas

Dubai, Dec 26: Six Indians, who arrived at the Sharjah International Airport on fake visas and travel documents a couple of days ago, have been detained by the immigration authorities. The Indian consulate said the men would be deported immediately. The fake visas were detected by immigration officials, who immediately seized their passports. The men, who arrived on an Indian Airlines flight from Kozikode and Kannur in Kerala, hold return tickets......

WB to grant Rs 5,000 cr to Punjab for rural facilities

Patiala, Dec 25 (UNI) The Punjab Government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Bank tomorrow at New Delhi for obtaining a loan of Rs 5,000 crore, to be spent for improving facilities in the rural areas of the state. Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh flew to New Delhi this evening for the MoU signing ceremony.
