Precious metals further recover on fresh demand

Mumbai, Dec 25 (UNI) Both the Precious metals further edged up on fresh demand with Silver gaining by Rs 30 per kg and Gold by Rs 25 per ten gm on the Bombay Bullion Exchange today.

Silver fineness opened high at Rs 19,180 per kg on moderate demand. Later, it slightly improved and closed at Rs 19,190 per kg with a gain of Rs 30 per kg from Saturday's close.

Similarly, standard Gold (99.5) and pure Gold (99.9) opened high at Rs 9,020 and Rs 9,070 per ten gm respectively on good demand.

The yellow metal closed slightly higher at Rs 9,035 and Rs 9080 per ten grams respectvely with a hike of Rs 25 and Rs 20 respectively from its last close.

Costlier food articles push inflation to 5.32 pc

New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) Inspite of the government's claims to take pre-emptive action to contain rising prices, the annual inflation rate rose to 5.32 per cent for the week ended December 9 from 5.16 per cent the previous week due to an increase in food prices. The inflation rate calculated on a point-to-point basis, stood at 4.39 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year, according to official figures released here......

NTPC inks JV with Haryana Power to set up power plant

New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) State-owned power major National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) has said it has formed a joint venture (JV) company with Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd to establish a 1,500 MW coal-based power plant in Haryana. The company will hold 60 per cent equity stake in the JV, and the rest will be shared between Haryana Power Generation Corporation and Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd. Punjab Chemicals acquires Argentina-based co

New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) Punjab Chemicals&Crop Protection Ltd has said its Belgium-based wholly-owned subsidiary SD Agchem (Europe) NV has signed an agreement to acquire Argentina-based Sintesis Quimica (SQ) for 10 million dollars. Post the agreement signed with the promoters of the foreign company, SQ has become the subsidiary of SD Agchem (Europe) NV and the company. SQ has two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. The company is engaged in agro.....
