One person killed, nine injured in two accidents

Barrackpore, Dec 25 (UNI) At least one person was killed and nine others were injured in two separate road accidents here today in North 24 Parganas this afternoon, police said.

While one person was killed on the spot after being struck by a bus, seven others, including a boy, were injured at the B T Road near Titagarh police station.

In a separate incident, a young woman and her husband also sustained injuries when struck by small goods carrier.

All the injured persons were sent to Dr B.N.Bose sub-divisional hospital.

The driver of the bus was arrested.

Youth Congress gherao Orissa Police station

Jharsugura, Dec 25 (UNI) Hundreds of Youth Congress activists today gheraoed the Jharsuguda police station demanding removal of outside contractors from Vedanta Company for misbehaving with local labourers. The labourers had alleged that the Manager of the Manisha and Anand Earth movers and his associates confined them in a room and misbehaved with them. Patna junior doctors on strike

Patna, Dec 25 (UNI) Work in Patna Medical College Hospital(PMCH) has been out of gear since last night as junior doctors resorted to a wildcat strike demanding adequate security in their workplace. As usual indoor patients were taken ransom and they are in the lurch with no doctors to attend to them.
