Militants kill civilian in Doda

Jammu, Dec 25 (UNI) Six unidentified militants today kidnapped a local civilian and later shot him dead in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said tonight.

Sources said militants kidnapped a civilian Mohan Lal Bhandari (40) from Malhar bridge Doda district this afternoon and later killed him.

The body of the victim was recovered from a forest.

A search operation to nab militants is on, sources added.

Governor urged to delineate panchayat powers

Puducherry, Dec 26 (UNI) Puducherry Panchayat Movement President V A Vasudevaraju today urged Lt Governor Mukut Mithi to take immediate steps for demarcation and delineation of the functions and powers of government departments and panchayats and municipalities here. In a letter to Mr Mithi, the former IAS officer pointed to the drinking water problem in Kanuvapet area and said there was no coordination between the PWD and the commune panchayat in fulfilling the basic needs.....

CM directs Collectors to monitor power situation daily

Hydeabad, Dec 25 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed all the district collectors to personally monitor the power situtation daily to ensure that seven hours power supply was maintained to the farmers everyday at one go or in maximum of two spells. In a statement here, Principal secretary to the Chief Minister Jannat Husain said Dr Reddy, who is reviewing the power situation has expressed dissatisfaction over the present supply.....

4 injured as police jeep hits them

Chennai, Dec 25 (UNI) Four persons were injured when a police patrol jeep hit some persons returning after taking part in midnight mass at a church in St Thomas Mount area here in the wee hours today. Honey bees attack four TRS MLAs

Sanga Reddy, Andhra Pradesh, Dec 25 (UNI) Four Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs and a press team were stung by honey bees on a road between two villages in Medak district today. TRS sources told UNI that a team of TRS leaders and some newspesons were in the district to conduct a road survey for the 'Maha Raasta Roko' programme to be organised on the Rajiv national highway on December 29 to press the demand.....
