Goa bundled out at 223 runs

Indore, Dec 25 (UNI) Disciplined bowling by Sanjay Pandey helped Madhya Pradesh bundle out Goa for 223 on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy plate group A match at the Usha Raje cricket ground here today.

In reply, the hosts were at 28 runs for one wicket at close.

Amit Paul and Mohnish Mishra were both batting on 9 when stumps were drawn.

The only batsman out was Mudassar Pasha, who was scalped by R Disuza at 9.

Earlier, Goa failed to put up a big total after being invited to bat by the hosts.

Openers Sagun Kamat with captain S Asnodkar added 48 runs which was the highest partnership of the innings.

Kamat scored 50 runs while Asnodkar was out at 17.

Sanjay Pande scalped 6 wickets for 47, while 2 were claimed by Abbas Ali and one each by T Sudhindra and Anand Rajan.

Chouhan meets Paswan to brief about urea scarcity

Bhopal, Dec 25 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today met Union Chemical and Fertiliser Minister Ram Vilas Paswan at his residence in New Delhi and briefed him about the problem of urea scarcity in the state. Mr Chouhan sought additional quantity of urea -- two lakh metric tonne of urea in the first two weeks of January 2007 -- from the Centre to meet the scarcity. He urged to provide one lakh.....

Four killed, seven injured in accident

Beed, Maharashtra, Dec 25 (UNI) Four labourers from Rajashtan were killed and seven others injured in an accident involving three vehicles near Padalsingi village about 20 km from here this morning. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Vikram Jhoble, a speeding truck collided with two trucks standing on the road. The incident occurred when the labourers were busy unloading cottonseed from one truck to another, since their vehicle had met with an accident earlier......

Centre declares Rs 77-Cr aids for flood affected Surat's textile

Ahmedabad, Dec 25 (UNI) Union Textile Ministry here today announced exclusive aids package of Rs 77-crore for the recently flood affected Textile Units of Surat city. Union Textile Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela told reporters here that the Rs 77-crore package has been divided into two major portions. Of the total package, Rs 56-crore would be disbursed as a subsidy among the affected textile units. The remaining Rs 21-crore would be in the form of soft loan.....
