Electric shock batons to disperse crowd

Morena, MP, Dec 25 (UNI) Used to disperse agitating crowds with the help of bamboo canes, police would now control mobs by giving current from electric shock batons.

Battery-operated batons had been provided to every district headquarters and the instrument would prove effective in controlling mobs, official sources said today.

The baton administers an electric shock of 24 Volts by contact to a person in the crowd and he leaves the place due to fear.

Sources said the shock batons would be useful in handling regular road blockades on the Agra Mumbai National Highway in Morena without hurting people.

Five electric shock batons had been received by the district headquarters. One baton has been kept in the Kotwali police station, while other batons had been kept with Reserve Inspector.

India, China to set up cultural centres in acc with MoU

New Delhi, Dec 26: India and China will work for establishing Cultural Centres in either country in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two countries in Beijing in 2003. The two sides will hold consultations on the time and modalities for reciprocal organisation of 'Festival of India' and 'Festival of China.'
