Electric batons to disperse crowd

Morena, MP, Dec 25 (UNI) Police, which uses bamboo canes to disperse unruly mobs, will now wield electric shock batons for the same.

Battery-operated batons had been provided to every district headquarter and the instrument would prove effective in controlling mobs, official sources said today.

The baton administers an electric shock of 24 volts by contact to a person.

The sources said the shock batons would be useful in handling regular road blockades on the Agra Mumbai National Highway in Morena without hurting people.

Five electric shock batons had been received by the district headquarters. One baton has been kept in the Kotwali police station, while other batons had been kept with the Reserve Inspector.
