DMK to sue Vaiko, English daily: Veerasamy

Chennai, Dec 25 (UNI) DMK Treasurer and Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy today said the party would sue Marumalarchi DMK General Secretary Vaiko for levelling baseless allegations against DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Addressing a press conference here, he said Mr Vaiko had alleged that the Chief Minister had attempted to tarnish the image and credibility of the DMK.

Mr Vaiko also raised false charges against Mr Karunanidhi that Mr Karunanidhi was responsible for the present crisis in the MDMK and he even threatened the MDMK party activists with goondas with support of the state police, he said.

Mr Veerasamy said the party would sue an English daily, which had published Mr Vaiko's charges against Mr Karunanidhi.

Mumbai faces do-or-die situation against Gujarat

Kolkata, Dec 24 (UNI) Surya Prakash defeated Vikram Rana while Himmat Rai triumphed over Raj Randhawa to set up a Christmas Day title clash at the Goodricke East India Amateur Golf Championship today. In the first encounter, Surya Prakash pipped seasoned Rana 5-4 whereas in the second contest, Himmat Rai had to toil hard after Randhawa took an early lead. Rai ultimately won in the playoff. Haryana state rural games in February

Chandigarh, Dec 24 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to hold State Level Rural games in February at Sonepat, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Dharabmir Singh disclosed here today.
