Coconut groove blast not to affect security for Shekhawat

Puducherry, Dec 25 (UNI) The explosion at a coconut groove at Thengaithittu near here on Saturday last will not pose any problems to security arrangements made for the visit of Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekawat here on December 30.

Senior Superintendent of Police Chaya Sharma, in a statement here clarified that the place was one-and-a-half km away from the helipad where Mr Shekhawat is scheduled to land.

She said the crude explosive device seized by the police was the size of a cricket ball like a fire cracker.

One person, who was injured in an explosion on December 23 was admitted to the government general hospital here for treatment.

Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, Dec 24 (UNI) At least 40 people were injured, some of them seriously, when a passenger bus carrying them hit a roadside tree near Piyalee bridge on Mumbai-Goa Highway today.
