Christian priest dies in road accident

Shajapur, MP, Dec 25 (UNI) A Christian priest was killed and five people were injured when a jeep collided with a truck at Indore Kota Highway, 94 km from the district headquarters, police said today.

Agar Pushpa Convent School's Father Bainee Adipuram (48), Sister Rosemary, Sister Sizo Jontey, Wilson, Franchiz Kamban and Awad Wilson were going to celebrate Christmas at Ujjain diocese when the incident occurred.

Father Bainee Adipuram died on the spot. Sister Rosemary, Sister Sizo Jontey and Wilson were seriously injured and admitted to hospital in Ujjain, while two other injured were admitted to a hospital in Agar.

Militants kill civilian in Doda

Jammu, Dec 25 (UNI) Six unidentified militants today kidnapped a local civilian and later shot him dead in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said tonight. Sources said militants kidnapped a civilian Mohan Lal Bhandari (40) from Malhar bridge Doda district this afternoon and later killed him. The body of the victim was recovered from a forest. Governor urged to delineate panchayat powers

Puducherry, Dec 26 (UNI) Puducherry Panchayat Movement President V A Vasudevaraju today urged Lt Governor Mukut Mithi to take immediate steps for demarcation and delineation of the functions and powers of government departments and panchayats and municipalities here. In a letter to Mr Mithi, the former IAS officer pointed to the drinking water problem in Kanuvapet area and said there was no coordination between the PWD and the commune panchayat in fulfilling the basic needs.....

CM directs Collectors to monitor power situation daily

Hydeabad, Dec 25 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed all the district collectors to personally monitor the power situtation daily to ensure that seven hours power supply was maintained to the farmers everyday at one go or in maximum of two spells. 4 injured as police jeep hits them

Chennai, Dec 25 (UNI) Four persons were injured when a police patrol jeep hit some persons returning after taking part in midnight mass at a church in St Thomas Mount area here in the wee hours today. According to police the injured were identified as Santhi (43), her son Balaji (15), Carmal (34) and his daughter Reshma (7). They were admitted to a private hospital. UNI RV ROY 1450.....
