War-like stores seized in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 24 (UNI) The Army today claimed to have seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.

A defence spokesman said four Army columns were launched to conduct a search operation at Sheeri village in Baramulla district's border area of Uri following specific information today.

During searches, troops seized huge war-like stores.

Two AK rifles, 1084 AK ammunition, seven AK magazines, four pistols, five pistol magazines, 32 pistol ammunition, 57 UBGL grenades, two UBGLs, one disposal rocket launcher, 40 hand grenades, seven anti-tank mines, five anti-tank grenades, four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), three IED chargers, nine detonators, one binocular, four kg explosives, three rocket propelled grenade shells and three radio sets were seized from the area, the spokesman added.

With the seizure of such huge war-like stores, he said militants have suffered a setback in carrying out anti-national activities.

2 children die in landmine blast in Poonch

Jammu, Dec 24 (UNI) At least two children died in a landmine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in the border district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir this evening, official sources said here. Wounded militant taken away by people in Udhampur

Jammu, Dec 24 (UNI) A wounded militant injured in a gun battle was taken away by the people of Arnas in Udhampur district, after pelting the security forces with stones, official sources said here today. Security beefed up at Surat railway station

Surat, Dec 25 (UNI) Police have stepped up security at the railway station here to avoid any militant attack during the festival season rush. Sources said security has been enhanced since yesterday following an intelligence warning that many metros, including Surat, need more security cover during the current festival season.
