Two booked for defrauding SICOM of Rs 2.11 crore

Nagpur, Dec 24 (UNI) The police have booked two directors of a private company here for defrauding State Industrial and Investment Corporation of Maharashtra (SICOM) Limited of over Rs 2.11 crore.

Police said Arun Sampatrao More (51) and Rita Arun More, both directors of Gurudutt Infrastructure Private Limited, submitted fake documents and account records to SICOM to obtain a loan of Rs 1.49 crore for the construction of 11.5 km of road on Build, Own and transfer (BOT) basis between Kalameshwar and Gondkhairi in the district. However, the company neither constructed the road nor repaid the loan amount.

The outstanding loan amount and the interest thereon of about Rs 2.11 crore is due from the company, police said.

An offence has been registered under sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the basis of a complaint lodged by a SICOM manager, police added.

SC reduces compensation of Chief Secy's wife

New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) The Supreme Court has reduced the accident compensation awarded to the wife of Mizoram chief secretary for the death of their daughter from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 5 lakh holding that while computing the compensation, the age of the claimant and not that of the victim should be taken into account. Three antique idols of Lord Mahavira seized, one arrested

New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) The Delhi Police have seized three "asthadhatu" idols of Lord Mahavira, about 700 year-old valued at several crores of rupees in the international market, from a person in Shalimar Bagh area of North Delhi.
