Tension as Rajkumar's statue is 'defaced'

Mysore, Dec 24 (UNI) Tension prevailed for some time on the Chamaraja Double Road in the city when Kannada Associations protested the alleged defacing of the newly-installed bust of thespian Rajkumar here.

Police said the associations brought three persons allegedly involved in the incident to the police station, where they were taken into custody for interrogation.

The situation is now under control.

Doctor abducted by miscreants

Koderma, Dec 25 (UNI) Unidentified miscreants last evening kidnapped a doctor, along with his driver from Jainagar-Koderma road, when he was on his way to the hospital in the district of Jharkhand, police sources today said. Sources said the incident occurred when Dr Sudeep, posted at the Sadar hospital was returning from a private clinic at Jainagar, about 15 kilometres away from the headquaters. One shot dead by militants

Imphal, Dec 25 (UNI) A man was shot dead and two others shot in their legs by cadres of United National Liberation Front for alleged involvement in a murder case. A spokesman of UNLF said on December 15 last one Basanta (35) was killed and three persons were directly involved.
