Snowfall likely in Northern Indian states

Pune, Dec 24 (UNI) Rain or snow are likely to occur at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir, at isolated places in Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in Tamil Nadu.

Dry weather will prevail over Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of Haryana and Punjab. It was below normal in some parts of east Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Vidarbha and in remaining parts of Haryana and Punjab.

They were appreciably to markedly above normal in Meghalaya, Manipur, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, some parts of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada and in remaining parts of Rajasthan.

The temperatures were above normal in some parts of Assam, Konkan, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and in remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Very light rain had occurred at isolated places in Rayalaseema.

Rain or thundershowers had occurred at isolated places in Tamil Nadu. Dry weather prevailed over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala.

SAIL production to be doubled by 2012

Burnpur, W Bengal, Dec 24 (UNI) Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today said the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) had targeted to double its production to 80 million tonnes through continuous upgradation and modernisation.
