Silver haul in MP

Morena, MP, Dec 24 (UNI) More than a quintal of silver, worth about Rs 20 lakh, was seized near this district's Morena checkpost today and five interstate smugglers arrested in this connection.

''Following a tip-off, a jeep was stopped and the bullion found.

Ramlakhan Sikarwar, Jitendra Sikarwar alias Jeenu, Ajaysingh Tomar -- all from Morena -- Kishore Bhai Patel and Jasmeen Gonsain -- from Rajkot -- were apprehended. The vehicle had been modified for concealment of jewellery,'' said Station House Officer K D Sonkia.

The silver was being brought from Gujarat and the jeep bore a Haryana registration number.
