Shivraj releases book on'Indian National Movement'

Hyderabad, Dec 24 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj V Patil today released a book on 'Indian National Movement in retrospect', edited by Osmania University, former Head of Political Sciences department, N G Rajurkar here.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Patil said late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had sowed the seeds of development by adopting 'Socialism' to remove the social disparities in the country. A lot needs to be done to uplift the downtrodden in the 21st century.

Stating that 'our country needs inclusive vision to achieve development in all sectors, he said the ruling Government was inviting private investments to develop the infrastructure facilities under Public Private Partnership (PPP).

Mr Patil said 'India will figure in the list of developed countries in the 21st century.

CM constitutes Agriculture Development Committee

Over Rs 20000 crore invested in Karnataka

Hubli, Dec 24 (UNI) While asserting that Railways has made an additional investment of over Rs 5,000 crore compared to last year, the Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu denied that the State was neglected in terms of developmental initiatives. He pointed out that the Railways made over Rs 20,000 crore of capital investment this year for various railway works in Karnataka as against Rs 15,000 crore last year. Five killed, six injured in accident

Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, Dec 24 (UNI) Five persons were killed and six others injured when their car hit a container lorry parked on roadside at Thapathi near Ettayapuram here today. Police said the passengers of the car were returning after visiting Lord Muruga temple at Tiruchendur.
