One cop killed, 2 injured in road accident

Ghazipur, Dec 24 (UNI) One police personnel was killed and two others were severely injured in a road accident in Ghazipur district late last night, police today said.

The mishap occurred under Mohammadabad police station area, where a speeding vehicle rammed into the Shahninda police chowki.

Constable Mohd Hafeez (30) died on the spot, while constables Prabhunath Yadav and Shyam Narayan Giri sustained critical injuries.

The injured were rushed to hospital.

A case was registered and search was on to nab the absconding driver.

Hindustan Samachar to launch Assamese service from New Year

Guwahati, Dec 24 (UNI) Multi-lingual news agency Hindustan Samachar is all set to commercially launch its Assamese news service from January 1. Announcing this at a function here yesterday, chief advisor ('margdarshak') of the agency Srikant Joshi said the Assamese service could be started on a commercial basis from New Year and newspapers would soon be contacted with the proposal to subscribe it. Temperature fluctuates in MP

Bhopal, Dec 24 (UNI) Temperature continues to fluctuate in Madhya Pradesh where the northern region's two locations registered night temperatures of 7 degrees Celsius while in other parts the mercury was higher than normal. ''The weather change is due to winds blowing south and a western disturbance.
