MLA nabbed, hospitalised

Narsinghpur, MP, Dec 24 (UNI) Gotegaon legislator Hakam Singh Chadhar, who supports the Uma Bharti-founded Bharatiya Jan Shakti (BJS) and was suspended from the Bharatiya Janata Party, was arrested today and admitted to the district hospital as his health severely deteriorated on the sixth day of his hunger strike here, the police said.

The BJS is staging a demonstration in support of 15-point demands including power supply to farmers and fixing sugarcane price at Rs 180 per quintal. The party announced a 'jail bharo' campaign under BJS General Secretary Prahlad Patel's leadership here tomorrow.

''If the demands are not met, Ms Bharti will also court arrest,'' Mr Patel said.

Centre urges Myanmar to take action against NE insurgents

Centre promotes tourism in NE

Imphal, Dec 24 (UNI) In a bid to promote tourism in the north eastern region, the Union Ministry of Tourism has launched a North East Contest recently. The Manipur Information Centre said here today that those who win the contest would get a free trip for seven days with a family of four to the North Eastern states.
