Mild earthquake hits Jaipur

Jaipur, Dec 24 (UNI) A mild earth quake with an intensity of 3.7 on the Ritcher scale was experienced in Jaipur early today.

However, no casualty was reported.

According to the Meteorological Department, the epi-centre of the quake was identified as Kanota tehsil, about 30 km from Jaipur city.

It was epicentered at latitude 26.7 degree north and longtitude of 76.7 degree east.

The earthquake, reported at 0413 hrs in the morning, shook the people out of their sleep. At some places in the city frightened residents ran out of their houses. The quake lasting for about 30 seconds.

This is the third quake in a series experienced in the state within a month. Last month, mild quakes with intensities of 3.9 and 2.9 on Ritcher scale here reported in Alwar and Nagaur district respectively.

According to the Meteorological Department earthquakes with an intensity of above five on Ritcher Scale is considered to be dangerous. A series of quakes, though mild in intensity is a matter of concern and may cause damage to life and property.

Stress management for J

Srinagar, Dec 24 (UNI) Alarmed by the increasing incidents of suicide among Army troops and other security personnel, the Jammu and Kashmir Police will soon start stress management classes and psychiatric counseling for its stressed out personnel here. Snow festival begins in Gulmarg

Haryana govt sets up Consumer Welfare Fund

Chandigarh, Dec 24 (UNI) The Haryana government has earmarked a sum of Rs 50 lakh for setting up of a Consumer Welfare Fund for the protection of consumer rights, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced. The government has also set up 135 consumer clubs in schools in the districts of Narnaul, Hisar, Jind, Sirsa,Gurgaon and Rohtak to educate the students about their consumer rights under the provision of Consumer Protection Act, he said.....
