J'khand govt concerned over theft of BARC analayser

Hazaribagh, Dec 24 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand Sudhir Mahto today said the state government was concerned over the theft of analayser from the Central Coalfields Limited.

Talking to repoters here, Mr Mahto said every step was being taken to find out the equipment containing uranium, brought from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).

Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda said a high level inquiry would be conducted into the matter.

Two analysers were brought from BARC and one out of two was stolen from CCL's washery at Rajrappa in the district.

The issue came to light after it was raised in the Assembly yesterday by Leader of the Opposition Arjun Munda.

Mr Munda said the equipment carried uranium, and radiation emanating from it would leave adverse effect on about 1.5 km area.

Mr Munda had also informed the House that an FIR was lodged on December four in this connection.

Prisoner dies at jaunpur district jail

Jaunpur, Dec 24 (UNI) A prisoner died under mysterious circumstances in Jaunpur district jail late last night, police today said. The incident occurred under Meerganj police station area, where Jang Bahadur Saroj (25), who was arrested in September last in connection with the murder of one Subhash Saroj, was suddenly taken ill. Ferozabad, Dec 24 (UNI) Several persons were injured in a group clash in Ferozabad district late last night, police today said.
