It was a year of political stability in BJP-ruled MP

Bhopal, Dec 24 (UNI) The past year would be remembered as one of political stability for the ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh and the party emerging victorious in four by-elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

After her expulsion from the BJP, former Chief Minister Uma Bharti floated Bharatiya Jan Shakti party and challenged the BJP but failed to register a mark on the political scene of the state.

Months after romping to power in the state during December 2003 assembly elections, the BJP was caught up in political instability with Mr Chouhan becoming the third Chief Minister in just two years.

It was not an easy task for Mr Chouhan especially at a time when people were dissatisfied with the leadership crisis at the top level.

Known for his soft image, Mr Chouhan showed the character to take tough decisions by removing the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police over certain complaints.
