Iran's president warns backers of UN resolution

TEHRAN, Dec 24 (Reuters) Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said today those who voted for a UN nuclear resolution against the country would soon regret it, the official IRNA news agency reported.

''This resolution will not harm Iran and those who backed it will soon regret their superficial act,'' Ahmadinejad said.

''Iranians are neither worried nor uncomfortable with the resolution ... we will celebrate our atomic achievements in February.'' REUTERS PDM KN1501

BAIDOA, Somalia, Dec 24 (Reuters) Ethiopian planes dropped bombs and fired missiles on two locations in Somalia today, witnesses said, as fighting between Somali Islamists and their Ethiopian-allied rivals raged for a sixth day. There was no immediate word from Ethiopia, the Somali interim government or the Islamists. Three in Egypt family test postive for bird flu-WHO

CAIRO, Dec 24 (Reuters) Three members of the same family in Egypt have tested positive for H5N1 bird flu, a World Health Organisation official said today. The WHO earlier said a brother, 26, and sister, 15, had the virus and then said a third relative, a woman aged 30, had contracted it. All three are from the same extended family of 33 living in a single house in a village near the town of Zifta in Gharbiya.....

JERUSALEM, Dec 24 (Reuters) Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's cabinet today unanimously approved the transfer of 100 million dollar in Palestinian tax revenues to President Mahmoud Abbas's office, Israeli officials said. Olmert had pledged the funds to Abbas at their first formal meeting held yesterday in Jerusalem.
