Spl observer reviews electoral rolls in Ferozpur Div.

Moga, Dec 21 (UNI) Special Observer Election Commission for Firozepur Division Sangeeta Gairala today instructed poll officials to ensure the completion and distribution of election photo identity cards positively by January one, next.

Ms Gairala, who is also Chief Electoral officer Rajasthan, arrived here today to revise the progress of new electoral rolls and also review the progress of photo identity cards for new voters, including those attaining age of 18 years by January one.

''As per directions of the Election Commission of India, in the coming Vidhan Sabha Election, no body would be allowed to cast vote without election photo identity card, she said.

Commissioner Ferozpur Division, Surinderjit Singh informed Ms Gairala that 16,608 new voters have been added in the new electoral list in all the three districts of Ferozpur, Muktsar and Moga.

According to the Commissioner, so far 89 per cent photo identity cards had been issued in Muktsar district, 84 per cent in Moga district and 81 per cent in Ferozepur district.

Govt to set up Medical Park in TN for equipment manufacture

New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI) The government is planning to set up a Medical Park and Vaccine Park in Tamil Nadu to encourage the manufacture of medical equipment and vaccines which would reduce the cost of medical treatment in the country. Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss told reporters here the parks would be set up on the 400-acre land available near Chennai with the additional assistance of the ministry. Manufacturers from across the world would be inivited.....

Police files chargesheet in Malegaon blast case

Mumbai, Dec 21: Mumbai Police today filed a chargesheet against nine persons who have been arrested by the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) in connection with bomb blasts at Malegaon in Nashik district during September this year in which 25 people died. The 2800-page chargesheet was submitted to the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court judge M R Bhatkar. The court was informed that thirteen persons have been accused in this case.....

Dr Ambedkar's statue vandalised in Mainpuri

Mainpuri, Dec 21 (UNI) Tension gripped the Mainpuri district today after unidentified miscreants desecrated the statue of Dalit icon Dr B R Ambedkar. Police said the incident took place in Makhanpur village under Karhal police station area. The incident agitated the villagers, who could be pacified only after the police assured them that the damaged statue would be replaces by a new one. A case was registered.
