Ramadoss asks Ramadev to cure cancer, AIDS

New Delhi, Dec 21: The controversy surrounding Yoga Guru Ramdev's claims to cure cancer and HIV/AIDS took a new turn with Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss challenging him to scientifically prove them.

Dr Ramadoss said that he appreaciated what Swami Ramadev was doing to promote yoga among the people. It has been proved that Yoga could help in the treatment of hypertension and diabetes.

However, there was no scientific evidence to prove that it could cure cancer and HIV/AIDS, he pointed out and said that if Swami Ramadev was making claims to cure incurable diseases, he should first scientifically prove them. If it was proved, then the government would cooperate with him in this regard.

Regarding the notice sent to Swami Ramadev, the minister said that though he was not aware who had sent the notice, it must have been done after due deliberations.

According to media reports, Swami Ramadev has claimed that he could cure cancer, asthma and other diseases. He had recently claimed to scientifically prove the yoga cure for HIV/AIDS.
