PM's aid sought for free corridor for Pak shrine

Jalandhar, Dec 18: Kartarpur(Ravi) Darshan Abhilakhi Sanstha chief Kuldip Singh Wadala has again sought intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to persuad Pakistan to create a 'free corridor' for Sikh pilgrims to holy shrine of Kartarpur on the banks of the Ravi river where Guru Nanak breathed his last.

Talking to reporters here today, Mr Wadala, a former Akali legislator, said that he was trying to seek an audience with the Prime Minister during his visit to Punjab tomorrow.

He said that he had been pressing for this demand and had written to all concerned including the Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister and Punjab Chief Minister.

Mr Wadala said that he had also met Dr Singh during his last Punjab visit in March this year and raised the issue. The Pakistan Government had already expressed its readiness for providing the corridor, he claimed.

Haryana plans Rs 400 crore sanitation campaign

Chandigarh, Dec 18 (UNI) The Haryana Government has forwarded to the Centre a proposal for 'Complete Sanitation Campaign' for the state involving Rs 400 crore. Under the campaign, 90,940 individual toilets, 12,967 community women toilets, 4,345 toilets in schools and 9,380 toilets in Anganwari centres would be set up, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh said today. One killed, 16 wounded in separate road accidents in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 18 (UNI) One person was killed and 16 others, including a child, wounded in separate road accidents across the Kashmir valley today, police said. Puducherry, Dec 18 (UNI) Twelve passengers were injured, two of them seriously, when a private bus overturned at Katterikuppam near here today. According to police, the bus carrying 23 and proceeding to Thirukkanur from here veered into a sugarcane field and overturned at Katterikuppam after the driver lost control over the vehicle.
