Rajasthan: Palace on Wheels rams into jeep

Jaisalmer, Dec 16: Luxury train Palace on Wheels (PoW) rammed into a jeep at an unmanned railway crossing on its way from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur last night.

According to police, the mishap occurred one kilometre from the Jaisalmer railway station a jeep tried to cross the unmanned crossing in a hurry when it saw the Palce on Wheels approaching.

The train was running at a very slow speed then and the driver applied the emergency brakes. However the engine dragged the jeep some distance before coming to a halt.

The train left Jaisalmer station at 1150 hours last night with about 100 tourists on board on way to Jodhpur.

The jeep driver is abscinding, police said.

Police constable among two killed, two injured in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 16 (UNI) Two persons, including a Jammu and Kashmir police constable were killed and another wounded in the valley today, an official spokesman said. He said a head constable T Namgiyal was critically wounded when a a vehicle hit him in the District Police line premises at Kulgam in south Kashmir. Why did Cong not act on Gopal Singh Com report on Muslims:BJP

New Delhi, Dec 16 (UNI) The BJP today demanded an explanation from the Congress as to why it did not act upon the Gopal Singh Committee report, which was not very different from the Justice Rajinder Sachar Committee report. BJP Spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the Congress would be ''deeply disappointed'' if it thought that the Muslims would support them enbloc if they are placated with slogans like 'Muslims first'.
