AIIMS RDA continues indefinite fast, more docs join

New Delhi, Dec 16: Four more members of the AIIMS Resident Doctors' Association today joined the indefinite fast, launched by the RDA yesterday in protest against the passage of the OBC Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha.

The number of residents who are on the hunger strike today rose to 24 with four more doctors joining the fast, AIIMS RDA General Secretary Arnab said.

The doctors have been on the fast since the passage of the Bill in Parliament on Thursday night.

However, services in the world renowned healthcare institution were not affected by the strike and patients were being attended to.

''The fasting doctors are attended to their normal duties,''Dr Arnab said.

AIIMS Medical Superintendent Dr D K Sharma said operations in all departments, including the OPD and the Emergency which are generally manned by the residents, continued as per schedule.

''It was work as usual as per schedule and patients were treated on a routine basis,'' he added.
