2 unidentified naxals killed in encounter in Andhra

Warangal (Andhra Pradesh), Dec 15: Two unidentified naxals including a woman were killed in an encounter with the police here early this morning.

Police said the incident took place when the combing police team, who were conducting a routine check between Passar and Maddulagudem villages about 80 km from here, tried to stop a woman and a man on a two-wheeler.

On seeing the police, the duo opened fire at them.

In retaliation, the police opened fire killing them on the spot.

The police has recovered weapons and naxalite literature from them.

However their identities and affiliation were not yet ascertained, they added.

Pakistan to host Women's World Cup Qualifiers

Lahore, Dec 15 (UNI) Pakistan will host the qualifiers for the 2009 Women's World Cup to be held in India. The qualifiers will be played late next year and eight teams -- Pakistan, South Africa, Bermuda, Papua New Guinea, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland and Zimbabwe -- would be contesting for a berth in the main event. The top two teams will qualify for the World Cup, the PCB said in a statement. The ICC has granted the qualifiers.....

India to take on Pakistan in Blind World Cup final

Lahore, Dec 15 (UNI) India set up a title clash with defending champions Pakistan after beating England by six wickets in the semi-finals of the third Cricket World Cup for the Blind in Islamabad. Mumbai, Dec 15: The rupee today opened low at 44.67/69 against per US dollar compared to 44.65/66 on the previous day's close, dealers said. The rupee eased on Friday as the dollar gained on solid economic data which pegged back expectations of a rate cut in the United States, but foreign inflows to a public offering would pull it back.
