Ravishankar Trust university in Orissa soon

Bhubaneswar, Dec 12: A multi-disciplinary world class university under the aegis of the Art of Living will be set up in Orissa to serve the holistic needs of the society in the field of Technology, Science, Arts and Spirituality.

A MoU in this regard was signed today between the Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir Trust (SSRVMT) and the Orissa government in presence of Art of Living Guru Ravishankar, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Higher Education Minister Samir Dey.

SSRVMT representative Yezdi Batliwalla and Education Secretary Ashok Kumar Tripathy signed the Mou for the University, which would have a core campus comprising academic and non-academic buildings to cater the needs of 15,000 students and 1500 faculty members.

The proposed University, a part of an international initiative in value education aimed at building responsible future citizen would have disciplines such as Basic Science, Humanities, Engineering, Pharamacy, Business management, Law, Bio Science, Art, Culture, Vedic Studies, Ayurveda and Medical Science, Aviation and Maritime training.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the University would impart Modern Science with ancient knowledge based on Vedas and scriptures.

Art of Living Guru Ravishankar said, ''We lack wisdom and to fulfill this we must have world class university''. Top intellectuals of the country, he said, have worked out what should be the education system so that the University, to be established in three years, would become a centre of excellence and gain international acclaim.

Car bomb kills 45 in Baghdad
