Western Union cuts transfer fees to India

Dubai, Dec 12: Western Union Financial Services, provider of money transfer services, has cut service fees for sending money from the UAE to India.

The service charge has been made uniform at Dhs15 for transfer amounts up to Dhs 8,500.

Earlier, the reduced rate was applicable in the case of remittances to destinations in Kerala only, the company said in a statement.

''Expatriates sending money to India will not only benefit from the reduced prices but also benefit from Western Union's wide network of over 35,000 agent locations across India, including 8,500 post offices around the country,'' it said.

Besides the quickness in remittances, the receiver in India does not need a bank account nor pay any fee for receiving funds.

Panaji, Dec 12: Special winter trains have been introduced on the Konkan railway route to cater to the extra rush of passengers during the winter vacations.According to a Konkan Railway Corporation release Train No. 109DN CSTM-Karwar special will run daily from December 15 to Janaury 6.Train No. 110 UP will run ex-Karwar daily from December 16 to January 7.
