SC rejects PIL on publication of obscene pics

New Delhi, Dec 12: The Supreme Court today dismissed a PIL seeking a ban on vulgar and obscene picture and photographs published in the print media.

A Bench comprising Justices AR Lakshmanan and Tarun Chatterjee dismissed the petition holding that it was for the authorities to amend the concerned act suitably to regulate publication of such objectionable photos and pictures in newspapers and magazines.

The petitioner, Ajay Goswami, had sought directions from the apex court to the Central Government and others to ban the usage of such pictures on the grounds that it has an adverse impact on children.

NIF will have to wait for funds, says Chidambaram

New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram today ruled out any flow of disinvestment proceeds to the National Investment Fund (NIF) for the time being. ''The Prime Minister had sometime back announced that funds from the proceeds be put on hold till consultations are complete, so at the moment I do not expect any funds accruing to NIF,'' Mr Chidambaram told the Rajya Sabha during the Question Hour. India signs MoA with US on aviation related issues

New Delhi, Dec 12: India has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MAO) with the Federal Aviation Authority of the United States to pave way for technical assistance on host of aviation related matter, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
